About us:
where we work

One Paper Buildings is able to offer a wide range of counsel, many of whom live on circuit. From silks down to working pupils, Chambers has a vast range of experience of prosecuting and defending in cases at every level.

Members of the South Eastern Circuit work mainly throughout London and the South East, with members regularly practising in Surrey, Sussex, Kent to the south and Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and into Lincolnshire in the north. Counsel have also appeared in Crown Courts as disparate as Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.

Members are often instructed as Leading Counsel in complex cases and have particular expertise in money laundering and confiscation proceedings. Junior members are frequently instructed as junior counsel, providing expert analysis and dedicated case preparation. In addition to a large number of defence solicitors and the Crown Prosecution Service, members are instructed by a wide variety of other prosecution agencies, including HM Revenue and Customs, the Office of Fair Trading and other regulatory bodies. In addition, junior members regularly prosecute and defend at Magistrates' and Crown courts, in London and across the South-Eastern and Western circuits. Members also appear in the Family Proceedings Courts, principal registry and the Court of Appeal.

Members of the Western Circuit work extensively across the circuit, from Hampshire to Cornwall. Chambers has a long history as one of the major sets practising on the Western Circuit. Many members of the Western Circuit also appear regularly in London court centres, instructed by solicitors both from the Circuit and in London. Members of both circuits also appear to conduct cases in Crown Courts across all other circuits.

In addition to appearing in Youth, Magistrates' and Crown Courts, the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords, members also conduct cases of Judicial Review in the High Court and appear in Courts Martial on the South Eastern and Western circuits and abroad.

Practitioners and the Clerking team are acutely aware of the importance of pre-trial conferences, and make every effort to accommodate the needs of professional and lay clients: conferences can be held in Chambers, Solicitors' offices or elsewhere as necessary. Conferences can often be held at very short notice, to the obvious advantage of all concerned.

We make extensive use of our own boxes within the Document Exchange around the Circuits so that briefs can be delivered to Counsel speedily. Courier services are also contracted for emergency deliveries.
