Practice areas:
general crime

The cornerstone of Chambers’ practice is the provision of specialist advocates who defend and prosecute in trials of serious, complex and high profile crime.

We prosecute and defend and consider it important to do so. Defence work covers a broad spectrum. Senior and junior members act in both publicly and privately funded cases across the entire range of offences: from murder, manslaughter and robbery to firearms cases and public order offences; sexual offences; dishonesty, from major fraud to shoplifting as well as more recondite offences such as corruption.

In defence matters, instructions are received from a wide range of solicitors, in London, East-Anglia and on the Western Circuit. These include large firms who regularly practice in the field of serious fraud. Instructions in Crown Court matters, payable under the Criminal Defence Service (Funding) Order 2007, are accepted on the basis that the terms and provisions of The General Council of the Bar's fee protocol apply. Click here for the full protocol.

We have a substantial prosecution practice in these same areas. Instructions are regularly received from the Crown Prosecution Service (on circuit and by CPS HQ), HM Revenue and Customs as well as other prosecution agencies.
