Practice
Andrew Shaw both prosecutes and defends across the South Eastern Circuit. He has been instructed in cases involving homicide and other serious violence, firearms, armed robbery, rape and other sexual offences, significant drug trafficking and all aspects of fraud and dishonesty.
He is regularly instructed in cases involving fraud and the proceeds of crime, and has particular expertise in cases involving historic physical and sexual abuse of children and is frequently instructed in cases where there are young or otherwise vulnerable witnesses.
He is noted for his preparation and handling of document heavy cases. More recently Andrew has begun to undertake cases involving Trading Standards, in particular those where confiscation proceedings follow. Andrew also has considerable experience of appellate work and Courts-Martial.
He is regularly instructed as both leading junior and junior counsel, and is an approved pupil supervisor.
Notable cases
R v PAGE & Others
Defence. Karim Khalil QC led Andrew Shaw in securing the acquittal of defendant after a six week trial. Known as the Christmas Day murder, the court heard that there was evidence to suggest the defendant had a motive for the killing, tidied up the items used in the killing and also disposed of the blood-soaked bedding.

2010 Ipswich Crown Court
Successfully prosecuted in a case where a man had been kidnapped, tortured at gunpoint and held against his will at a flat in London over 100 miles away from the initial kidnap. For more information and news reports click here
