Angela Rafferty has been instructed as junior and leading counsel in cases involving allegations of murder, familial homicide, rape, serious sexual assaults, armed robbery, drugs importation and trafficking, gang violence, death by dangerous driving, child cruelty and fraud.
She is highly experienced in dealing with young and vulnerable witnesses and defendants.

She regularly lectures on developing aspects of criminal legislation and is involved in community projects encouraging young people from deprived backgrounds to enter a career in the law.

Angela Rafferty has been an approved pupil supervisor for 7 years.

R v Avery and others
(junior counsel for the Crown in a series of multi handed trials involving allegations of public nuisance and blackmail against Animal Rights Activists)

R v Huntley and Carr
(junior counsel for Maxine Carr in the Soham murder case)

R v A
(junior counsel defending an asylum seeker who was accused with others of burning down Yarlswood detention centre).

R v Hanton
(Defending a man accused of sexually assaulting a child. Took the case successfully to appeal. This is a leading case on the guidelines for achieving best evidence in Vulnerable Witness and Children cases. )

R v A and I
(junior counsel defending a parent accused of familial homicide with his wife of an 8 week old infant. The case involved a novel point of law relating to ‘battered woman syndrome’)

R v Mills
(defending in a multi handed million pound drug importation case).

R v B
(prosecuting a death by dangerous driving case. Successfully appealed a terminatory ruling)

R v N
(defending in one of the first cases to be brought under causing death by careless driving under the influence of drugs legislation).

R v H
(leading counsel prosecuting a serial sexual offender who waged a campaign of abuse on his victims from 1983 to 1998).

R v K
(prosecuting a human trafficking and controlling prostitution case. This is one of the first cases of its kind in the Cambridgeshire area. It involves foreign witnesses and significant jurisdictional issues).
