Experience
Joanne Eley has been practising in East Anglia for the past 10 years and was
a Tenant at Trinity Chambers Chelmsford/Ipswich 1998-2007.
Practice
Joanne Eley has a mixed practice accepting both prosecution and defence work
in equal measure, in all areas of the Criminal law.
Her experience includes prosecuting and defending in
cases involving serious violence and dishonesty. She has been recently
instructed to defend in an attempted murder and instructed as Junior Counsel
for the prosecution in a lengthy fraud trial.
She has particular experience in prosecuting and defending in cases involving
sexual assault and child sex offences and expertise in dealing with defendants
with mental health and learning difficulties, as well as vulnerable witnesses.
