Practice
Quinton practices in prosecution and defence work in London and across the South Eastern and Western Circuits.
He practices in all areas of crime and has experience of a wide range of work in the Crown Court. Quinton has both defended and prosecuted those accused of offences that include armed robbery, wounding, sexual assault, and fraud. Recent cases have included acting for the defendant in a three-handed £1.5 million cigarette importation.
Quinton’s current caseload includes the defence of a wounding with intent matter and prosecuting in an inciting sexual activity with a child matter and a conspiracy to defraud matter.
In addition to his general criminal practice, Quinton is also regularly instructed in confiscation and cash forfeiture proceedings, in association with which he has appeared in the Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court and High Court. His experience spans proceedings under POCA, the DTA and the CJA.
Most recently he has defended in a 4-day contested hearing in a case where the Criminal Benefit alleged was in excess of £750,000 and the Crown sought a hidden assets order. He also has conduct of the confiscation in a fraud case where the Criminal Benefit alleged is in excess of £1 million.
Quinton has completed a secondment with the Asset Forfeiture Division of Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office (RCPO) where he had conduct of the enforcement of the largest ever confiscation order made against a defendant (£28 million).
In addition to his Crown Court practice Quinton has been instructed in serious matters for which certificates have been granted in the Magistrates’ Court and Youth Court: including robberies, burglaries, public order, sexual and violent offences.
Quinton’s experience means that he is also equipped to deal with ASBO applications, road traffic offences, and regulatory offences.
A keen sportsman, Quinton is the current Captain of the Bar of England and Wales Cricket Club.
